Day 1

Marrakech (Ouarzazate) – Tagdilt

Departure by the tizi n’Tichka and the road of the kasbahs, the road ascends to a pass, at 2260 meters, going from a landscape to a mountain landscape punctuated with villages of dry stones, flat roofs and terraced fields. It then changes into the Dades valley, strip of green limited the palm groves and dotted with kasbahs and ksour (fortfied villages) of adobe.

During the four day walk, small oasis, fields of barley and fig trees make a constellation of slopes and ends of valley at the entrance of the massif. Gradually, the landscape becomes more mineral, characteristic of this volcanic set that is the Sarhro. Gorges, basalt organs, red and ocher rocky peaks… Man is however not completely absent: certain isolated villages, nomad camps at Aït Atta with their flocks. A gush of peaks of all forms : stunning !

Day 2

Tagdilt (1650 m) – Tizi n’Ouzarzam (2300 m) – Almou n’Ouarg (2200 m)

After this beautiful village located at the bottom of the valley, at the foot of the mountains, the path leaves the valley of Dades to gradually sink into the mountains. A canyon to cross, a pass (tizi n’Ouzarzam, 2300 m). Panoramic view of the summits at 4000 meters of M’Goun and the wide plain of Boumalne of Dadès. Beautiful place to camp, on a small plateau in between the mountains, near a well used by the nomads. A place of dreams !

Day 3

Almou n’Ouarg (2200 m) – Kouaouch (2600 m) – Igli (1850 m)

Here we are in the second day of our adventure. Some oleanders, then a zig zag path leads to the pass of Imi n’Ouarg (2550 m). A bit higher up, at 2600 meters, the summit of Kouaouch, the climatic point of our tour, offers a splendid view of the mountains of the snowy central High Atlas and the desert to the South. Around, deep valleys and trimmed summits. Descent among the tabular relief. In the crossing, the azibs (basic stone shelters) and nomad camps. Camping at Igli, large plateau surrounded by rocky peaks.

Day 4

Igli (1850 m)- Bab n’Ali (1350 m)

We are in the heart of the massif. Descent through a small green valley, Afourar, with its traditional little mud houses – these are nomadic houses –, its small fields of barley or henna surrounded by oleanders. Then, crossing a large formation of red and ocher rocky peaks to reach Bab n’Ali. After lunch, continue to cross a small pass between the 2 peaks that from the “dood” of Bab n’Ali, then descent by a ravine (Amguis). We cross paths with many nomads at Aït Atta with their flocks. Camping close to a well.

Day 5

Bab n’Ali – Ighazoun – Hanedour

Descent towards the small valley of Amguis, at the foot of the rocky peaks, until the village of Ighazoun Nimlas. Cross the plateau, with sumptuous rocky formations, to reach the valley of Igue, with its many villages surrounded by date palms and almond trees. Red soil from the houses, green fields, and the purity of the sky of the South. At the exit of this valley, an immense plateau discovers an opening towards the South. End of the journey to Hanedour, village perched in a cliff.
Last night at camp, a bit after the village.

Day 6

Hanedour – Marrakech (Ouarzazate)

A short 20 minute walk before joining the minibus to return to Marrakech. Agdz and the Draa valley, its palm groves, its cultivated fields, its mud villages. Arrival at Marrakech by the end of the afternoon.

  • Transfer: 7 h (Marrakech).

The J’bel Sargho, a huge pre-saharan massif, of volcanic origin with very strange geology: reliefs, needles to the assault of the sky, geological multicoloured layers notched with wadis. Man has taken refuge in these mountains which are still very isolated.
