  • Durée : 6 jours
  • Possible depuis : 01/05/2019

  • Prix : 390€
Day 1
Marrakech – Setti Fatma – Timichi

After a short transfer by private vehicle through the green valley of Ourika you reach the village of Setti Fatma. After lunch and entrusting your luggage to a porter, begin the trek by discovering the ingenuity of the Berber mountaineers: irrigation canals, terraced farming, mills … and villages sitting on the slopes of the valley… Everything is designed so as not to lose a single acre of fertile land. Overnight at Timichi gite.
.  Transfer: 1 h 30.
. Walking time: 5 to 6 h.
.  A: 550 m.

Day 2
Timichi – tizi n’Ouhattar – Oukaïmeden

Leaving the cultures behind you, you will approach by the tizi n’Ouhattar (3143 m) the domain of the « high Moroccan mountain »; the azibs – sheepfolds of altitude – are proof of the pastoral activity and you will not miss the sonorous salam aleikum of the shepherds. At the end of the day, when the sun is lower on the horizon, the grazing light highlights the rock engravings of the site; it is at this moment that you will discover them. Overnight at Oukaïmeden refuge.
.  Walking time: 6 h.
.  A: 1300 m.

Day 3
Oukaïmeden – tizi n’Addi – tizi n’Tamatert – Aït Souka

The impression of being at the end of the world … and yet, the villages that you cross are well inhabited, the tiny fields are well cultivated … Between the tizi n’Addi and the tizi n’Tamatert, the valley of Imnane continues to follow its peaceful course away from the touristic busyness, like beyond time.
We leave the Oukaïmeden, a ski resort, to cross the Addi pass (2981 m), overlooking the valley of Imnane, then descent to the highest village of the Atlas, Tachedirt (2300 m). The descent becomes less steep until Tinghrine (1850 m) to go up to the tizi n’Tamatert (2300 m); there are panoramic views of Imlil and the valley of Aït Mizane. You still have a short descent in the middle of the pine forest of Aleppo to join our beautiful gite of Aït Souka.
A quality gite, with an amazing view, cared for by Ahmed Aït Hammou, a guide who has been working with Aventure Berbère for many years, and key man for all the Toubkal region. Ahmed and his family are charming and provide great company. Big rooms, very clean, complete toilet. Full great meals as well. Ahmed now also proposes a traditional hammam beldi within the gite (price: 50 Dhs, approximately).
.  Walking time: 6 h.
.  A: 470 m.
.  D: 1270m.

Day 4
Aït Souka – Toubkal refuge

The climb towards the shelter begins following the channels that irrigate the terraced crops. After the lunch break at Sidi Chamarouch’s small village (and marabout), the mountain becomes more arid and only a few bleating of goats and sheep guarded by young shepherds accompany your walk. Night at the Toubkal refuge (Neltner refuge, 3210 m).
.  Walking time: 5 h 30.
.  A: 1200 m.

Day 5
Toubkal refuge – Toubkal summit (4167m) – Aït Souka

The ascent towards the summit is without major difficulty. The path goes up a valley enclosed that leads to a pass. A large ridge then leads to the summit. Here, the view is striking, dominating a large part of the Atlas and the plains of Haouz, to the north, and Ouarzazate, to the south. The descent is by the same way and, from the refuge, after the picnic, you reach Aït Souka following the same itinerary as yesterday. Night in a gite in Aït Souka.
.  Walking time: 9 h.
.  A: 1050 m – D: 2270 m.

Day 6
Aït Souka – Marrakech

Short descent to Imlil. The driver is waiting in the village to take you back to Marrakech where you will arrive by the end of the morning.
.  Transfer: 1 h 30.
. Walking time: 15 min.

Demanding “Mountain” trekking
4 nights gite – 1 night refuge

The climax of this altitude hike is the Djebel Toubkal (4167 m), and at the summit, the reward is the view over the high chain of the Moroccan Atlas, the plain of Marrakech to the north and, to the south, the distant Saharan desert faded by the mists of heat.
But then again, the itinerary of this hike also proposes the discovery of the terraced cultures of the high valleys of the Moroccan Atlas and – which is not a legend! – the hospitality of the Berbers, anchored on these lands, because the Atlas is above all a « living mountain ».

  • The climb of the highest mountain in Northern Africa (4167 m).
  • A complete change of scenery in the least amount of time.
  • The comfort and the warm welcome at the Aït Souka gite (two nights).
