Our children in the desert

Day 1
Marrakech – Saredrar

The tizi n’Tichka, pass at more than 2 200 meters high, gives access to the plain of Ouarzazate (lunch). We begin to feel more and more in the South. The superb valley of Draa, its villages built in adobe, Agdz, N’Kob, its palm groves, and it’s the arrival to Saredrar in the middle of nowhere. Night in a furnished saharan camp at Saredrar, in the middle of nowhere (traditional Berber tents, beds with sheets, showers, toilets, restaurant).

Day 2
Saredrar – Ikwa n’Blafaida

The camel drivers are at the ready to take the luggage. A good breakfast, and it’s off to the South-East. Very slowly, the caravan crosses a plateau that leads to Berghwa by walking between wadi, acacias, and dunes to the beautiful sand dunes of Ikwa n’Blafaida.
Camping in the dunes.

Day 3
Ikwa n’Blafaida – Houda

After packing the camels, we go to the valley of Taghbalte leaving to the right Aït Mnad, Village built in the heights, where a weekly souk takes place and merchandises are exchanged between nomads and villagers of this region. We reach the palm grove of Oum el-Ghizlane, etymologically « place frequented by gazelles ». A magnificent stage, always from one palm grove to the next, with its date palms, and the vegetable gardens irrigated by pumps…
Camp near the palm grove of Houda.

Day 4
Houda – Foum Tiza

Departure from the palm grove of Taghbalte to join the sand dunes of Foum Tiza crossing the desert plateau of Tokhar : the landscape is one of complete beauty. Arrival to the massif of Foum Tiza, amazing !
Camping at the foot of a long rocky ridge bordered by dunes.

Day 5
Foum Tiza – Saredrar, the mountain with fossils

Crossing of the Saredrar mountain: the ground is strewn with millions of fossils. Arrival to a village with the same name, located close to a little oasis almost completely abandoned by the desertification. Then, we continue on a land that is witness to the pre-Saharan Morocco : discovery of the ancient irrigation system of a chain of century-old wells and remnants of prehistoric kilns of the Copper Age. Camping in a furnished saharan camp at Saredrar, in the middle of nowhere (traditional Berber tents, beds with sheets, showers, toilets, restaurant).

Day 6
Saredrar – Marrakech

Return by minibus to Marrakech by the tizi n’Tichka. Arrival in the afternoon.
